Resplendent Quetzal (Pharomachrus mocinno)

This Juvenile male quetzal was spotted right outside QERC in our Aguacatillo tree. As you can see the feathers around this birds eye area are incompletely developed, as are the cover feathers. This bird hung around for about 30 minutes, and I enjoyed watching him through our kitchen window.

Having the opportunity to see beautiful birds like this every day is just another one of the joys of working here at QERC.
